ANGEL of the NORTH
Notice how each wing resembles the fretboard of the guitar.
This structure is a cross between - an angel - a guitar and a teddy bear.

I'm Goin' Back (Someday)
Mister if you're from 'up north' you know the tale I tell, of dirt-grime-muck-grit-stink-stench-smell. I sit here on the river bank my head upon my knees and watch the rubbish floating down the dirty river Tees. I'm going back (someday) to see my dirty old river

EDUCATION is a "CLEAN" industry. Teesside is now being turned into an enormous museum / educational business park. The buildings and plants of old polluting industries are are being made safe and preserved for future generations. These examples of ignorance and thoughtlessness are being "listed" so that future generations can avoid the same mistakes. (no doubt they will make their own mistakes)The computer is a vital tool in the application of "EDUCATION as an INDUSTRY."
TEESIDE is such a DEPRIVED AREA that computers have been made available in public libraries so that every one has access to a machine which is basically just :- a Typewriter + a Calculator + a Filing cabinet + a Printer + a Photo copier + a Collator + a Fax machine + a Modem all hooked up to a Telephone with an Ansaphone.
|
If you reduce the Transport System in TEESSIDE by closing down the A19 you will cause some chaos but you will not devastate the area because the people of Teesside will always find a way to get the job done.
However if you reduce the funding to Tees Valley Music Services you will break the foundations of an emerging industry (clean and green) in a deprived area. There is no other way to get this job done even by Teessiders. The funding follows the students.......( link )

I am told that I was born in 1941 and was lucky to get out alive. 21 Wilton Avenue, Dormanstown. (Nellie Hird was my godmother) We moved to 87 Wilton Avenue.I think I remember going into the Anderson shelter with the square hole at one end. Also my mother went back in the house to make chips. Also I used to 'translate' for my baby sister. We moved to Boulby road where I got run over by a 3 wheeler bike. I also got too much sun when I fell asleep in the long grass next to the allotments. We moved to Station Road. I remember my brother making a fire in the attic with a pile of tapers. (thin candles.) My brother was in solitary confinement in a bedroom. I got a slap on the cheek for visiting him. I remember the spiral staircase. We became a 'single parent family' in 1946 and moved in with Nancy Baines. I attended Coatham C of E school where I got a slap on the leg by a lady teacher for wiping mud off my leg with a towel. We moved in with my grandmother in Westfield Road, Normanby.I went to Normanby school.I remember Spriggy Spray - Smith's Dock Park - Titty Bottle Park - The train dragging itself up the tracks towards the brickworks - the 'Trackless' - the ride to South Bank - getting off at Bennets Corner - Sparks chocolate logs - the slag tip (which I thought was a natural hill) and the Gospel Hall. Most of all I remember my Grandmother had a pipe organ. The foot pedals operated the bellows.

During the forties we got a prefab at 52 Hobson Avenue, Dormanstown. One of my brothers showed me a few 'moves' on the piano.(the Bramble Waltz comes to mind)
and during the fifties my other brother showed me a few 'moves' on the guitar.
