MUSIC LESSONS for BEGINNERS and the LESS ADVANCED
UNIVERSALITY.
Universality is just one of the many words which acknowledges that we are all dependent on each other and that no one person can achieve anything without the interaction of the rest of humanity. (e.g. the butterfly effect / determinism / interconnectiveness / runic energy / Teesside.)
The "Zetland" is the oldest surviving lifeboat on this planet and still exists today because of universality.-------( link )
For evey force there is an equal and opposite force. For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.
Every time you solve a problem you create another one.....
Therefore........
Before you can do anything, you have to do something else first.
Fortunately I have enough money to last me for the rest of my life. (assuming I die next Thursday)
Therefore.......
I don't have to do anything(if I don't want to)
However.......
If I do wake up on Friday morning I want to be busy(doing my own thing) Doing my own thing (for me) means being involved with live music.
I can sit in my music room and play my piano for hours and hours.
However.......
I could not do this if some highly skilled craftsmen had not built my piano for me.
My piano consists of the following materials.
1. Iron Frame. 2. Hard wood wrest plank. 3. A spruce sound board (built in strips) - thick in the middle - thin .....at the edges - bellied in the middle - flattens out when the .....strings are tightened. 4. Hardwood treble bridge. Curved to equalise the tension in each .....string. 5. Base bridge. 6. Keys (84 total) wood - plastic - lead - brass - felt. 7. Action (84 total) x 80 components. 8. Hammers (84 total) x 13 components 9. Strings - (bass x 50) (treble x 159) - steel - copper 10.Tuning pins (209 total ) 11.Pedals and levers 12.Case 13.Rest rail 14.Keyslip 15.Lid (keys) 16.Lid (sound) 17.Front panel (top) 18.Front panel (bottom) 19.Hinges - catches - wedges 20.Screws - nuts - bolts 21.Wood - felt - leather - plastic 22.Iron - steel - copper - aluminium - bass - bronze 23.Glue
Of course the owner of the piano factory figures in the scheme of things but he could not own the factory if some bricklayers had not built the factory. The bricklayers could not have built the factory if some one had not made the bricks. Some one had to build the roads to get the bricks from the brickworks to the piano factory. Some one had to build a lorry to carry the bricks to the piano factory.Blah Blah. My music room was built by bricklayers.Same same. Blah Blah
However because I am a music teacher I cannot teach music without students - sheet music -songs - tunes etc. Some one has to create a demand for music lessons and this can be done by advertising in the local press etc. The local press is housed in a building which was built by bricklayers. Same same.Blah Blah.
The composers and performers of music together with the musical instument manufacturers - publishers (sheet music) - recording studios - broadcasters - listeners/audiences and the music teachers/students have made music an essential part of our culture. This culture is nurtured within buildings which were built by bricklayers. Same same. Blah Blah.
The kingpin of our modern infrastructure = 'navies' ( roads ) ( railways ) ( canals ) ( harbours / ports ) ( airports )
The kingpin of our materials / supplies = miners /quarrymen / lumberjacks / farmers / fishermen
The kingpin of our modern public transport system ='passengers' - cleaning ladies - drivers - maintenance
The kingpin of our modern haulage system = 'industry / customers'
administration / office workers = bricklayers - cleaning ladies - transport
The kingpin of our education system = 'students' - bricklayers - cleaning ladies - dinner ladies - teachers
The kingpin of the NHS = 'patients' - bricklayers - cleaning ladies
The epicentre of the music industry is the 'student'
This culture can be traced back to Johan Sebastian Bach who gets the credit for tuning the piano to equal temperament. Of course Cristofori figures in the credits as does John shore.
However the Spanish nuns of the 15th century should get the greater share of the credit since they tuned their guitars to equal temperament using the harmonic tuning sequences descibed by Ramos de Pareja.
The origins of the guitar can be traced back to those hunter gatherers who survived by using their brains rather than their brawn. The women of these tribes were motivated by ensuring the survival of their offspring. They established base camps / creches where they could protect their chidren and nursing mothers whilst providing shelter - fetching water - preparing food - making clothing - nurturing the family - exploiting safety in numbers.
It is not unreasonable to think of Africa as the garden of Eden.
If a nomadic tribe of hunter gatherers was to survive then it would need a strong and wise leader.
A man would be the obvious choice for this role. He would need to be physically strong and mentally sound. He would need to have a built in 'total respect' for mothers and children. He would have been brought up by a wise woman ( Eve ) and educated by her in the ways of women and the nurture of children.
He would need to have an open mind and a gift for listening. We will call this man Adam.
Since there were no laws at this time there would be no crime.
Natural law dictates that the female choses the father / fathers of her offspring.
The men were motivated by self preservation - territorial instincts - only working in teams to bring down large / dangerous animals. Since men could throw a spear far greater distances than the women it seems highly likely that women invented the 'bow and arrow' in order to compete. Having invented the 'Bow' it is only a small step to adapt it for making music.......( link )
The female of any species is more deadly than the male. The female of the species is the species........( link )
